Seoul offers a convenient public bike rental system called Ddareungi (Seoul Bike), making it easy for both locals and tourists to explore the city on two wheels. Here’s how to rent a bike as a foreigner.
Download the ‘Ddareungi (Seoul Bike)’ app on your smartphone:
Open the app and select ‘Foreigner’ on the first screen to switch the language to English.
Go to the ‘Purchase Pass’ section in the app. Choose from the following options:
Enter your email address and pay using a foreign-issued credit card.
Use the app to find the nearest bike station and select an available bike. Scan the QR code on the bike to unlock it and start your ride.
Return the bike to any Ddareungi station after use. Secure the bike to the docking station and make sure the lock is engaged. Confirm the return on the app.
Website Option: If the app payment doesn’t work, purchase the pass on the official website and link it to the app.
Language Support: The app supports English, Japanese, and Chinese.
Age Limit: Only users aged 15 or older can rent bikes.
By following these steps, you can easily navigate Seoul with a public bicycle and enjoy the city’s vibrant streets. Happy cycling!
