Seoul offers a convenient public bike rental system called Ddareungi (Seoul Bike), making it easy for both locals and tourists to explore the city on two wheels. Here’s how to rent a bike as a foreigner.
🚴 Step 1: Install the Ddareungi App and Set the Language
Download the ‘Ddareungi (Seoul Bike)’ app on your smartphone:
Open the app and select ‘Foreigner’ on the first screen to switch the language to English.
💳 Step 2: Purchase a Pass
Go to the ‘Purchase Pass’ section in the app. Choose from the following options:
- 1-hour pass: 1,000 KRW
- 2-hour pass: 2,000 KRW
- 24-hour pass: 5,000 KRW
Enter your email address and pay using a foreign-issued credit card.
🚲 Step 3: Rent a Bicycle
Use the app to find the nearest bike station and select an available bike. Scan the QR code on the bike to unlock it and start your ride.
🅿️ Step 4: Return the Bicycle
Return the bike to any Ddareungi station after use. Secure the bike to the docking station and make sure the lock is engaged. Confirm the return on the app.
